Renovation Project

Plans for the renovation of YDR's Center for Dance Studies are on-going. Architect Robert Cohen has created a phased plan which increases dance studio sizes, provides handicap accessibility, and, with our other consultants, designed a holistically inviting cultural center for the community. With these upgrades and additions, YDR will be able to increase our  programming and student enrollment, create new jobs, and provide extensive services to the community.

Supporting YDR's Renovation Project

Receive 25% Tax Credits

Donors of $1,000 or more in support of YDR's Renovation Project who are New York state residents are eligible to receive a 25% NY State tax credit.  That is, for every dollar contributed, donors will receive $0.25 off income tax liability or business franchise tax.  We can offer this tax abatement because our community, Sunset Park, Brooklyn, has been designated an economic development zone by New York State in order to encourage investment in the area.  YDR’s Center for Dance Studies was one non-profit organization selected for this tax credit program.

Naming Opportunities

More than $300,000 has already been raised and allocated in support of the renovation.  There is no question that a renovated Center for Dance Studies will deeply impact our current student population and our immediate neighboring residents.  It will create jobs for community residents and greatly improve the quality of life in our impoverished South Brooklyn neighborhood of Sunset Park.
