FROM THE DIRECTOR

 

As we enter this Spring, we see the many signs of new growth and optimism for the days ahead. YDR celebrates the start of new programs, new members to our Board of Directors, and new families.

Though we are still in a phase of transition as we work to re-establish a permanent home, we continue to seize opportunities for bringing our love for dance to our Brooklyn community. We hope you will continue to support YDR and spread the words of our activities. 

For sometime we have spoken about bringing back our activity committees. This volunteer parent and alumni group would help with grassroots fund raising and promotion of YDR activities. We hope that you consider participating in this committee. Please speak with Mary DiClementi or Doreen Miranda to see how you might be able to help share in our efforts.

 ARTS IN EDUCATION

 

This year we continue our partnerships with public schools in regions 5 & 7. Students from the following schools are being exposed to technique as well as interdisciplinary dance programming: 185, 102, 149, 127, & IS 30. We also celebrate our Parents As Art Partners workshops with PS 160 and PS 503.

We greatly value our longtime relationships with these schools and the children they serve. YDR’s Arts-in-Education experiences are a stepping stone to a lifetime of appreciation and participation in the Arts.

We are looking to form the following Action Committees with the help of our parents and friends in the community:

4.                Capital Campaign (raising funds)

5.                Assistance with building Alumni Support
